about a mother

Here is the details, if you want to help.

Name: withheld
Address: Seksyen 20, Shah Alam
Age :38 yrs old
Cancer : Stage II Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Children:3 girls, 3 boys (age ranging from 5 to 16 years old)

Background information

A single mother with six children after her policeman ex-husband divorced her in the midst of her 4th cycle of chemotherapy in October 2004. Consequently, she defaulted her 5th and 6th cycle of chemotherapy since then. Last prognosis, the tumour shrinked and showed promising recovery. However with the defaulted treatment most likely it is going to be a relapse. She received her treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

She is also faced eviction from the police quarters in anytime as she has been overstaying there for five months. Being a full-time housewife for the past 10 years, she is forced to work to care for her children. She will be working as a filing clerk in a construction company in USJ9 this Tuesday with monthly salary of RM800.
(It is quite far from Shah Alam and she don't even have the money for the fares)

At the moment her ex-husband is only giving RM400 for the nafkah. She received no financial assistance from other agencies (PPZ, etc) for a simple reason that she don't even have funds to go around to file up the applications (need support letter etc)

In this situation, her first priority is to earn a living and treatment will definitely comes second which can be detrimental for her health. I think that is what a mother will always do. Protecting her cubs

I went to visit her last Saturday and gave her RM150 donated by my colleague and friends and with that money she bought rice and bread for her children.

I asked her, " cukup ke sekampit beras tu" , pointing out to the 10kg of rice carried by her son, Heri.

"Tak. sebab kami makan ni pagi, tengahari dan malam" she answered.

What she needs urgently

New shelter - preferably near her workplace in USJ 9 / Shah Alam area

Food for daily staples – RM600

Fares to go to work – RM150

School pocket money for her children - RM200

If you want to help, email me personally at adabi99@yahoo.com. I’ll be glad to furnish you with further details. My prime concern is that once she can stand on her feet, she can go for cancer treatment ASAP.

Please help.

Hi iskandar. I'm trying to put together a list of sites which help people to contact single mothers; just like this one 'single mother'. I thought you might be able to help. Do you know of any other single mother related sites? If so, perhaps you could respond to this post and let me know. Many thanks
