Inilah Perpustakaan Mereka!

Papan tanda rumah anak yatim berkenaan.

Asrama anak yatim lelaki.

Aduhai, inilah aktiviti mengisi masa lapang mereka!

Anak yatim lelaki bermain di semak samun berpaya.....Aduh!

Dan inilah perpustakaan mereka!

Projek Perpustakaan Kembali lagi!

1. Rumah Anak Yatim & Miskin Dar'us Salam, Tambun,Perak
2.Rumah Anak Yatim & Miskin Bait Al-Amin,Parit,Perak

"Alangkah baiknya, kalau mereka mempunyai satu tempat dimana mereka
boleh duduk berjam-jam dikelilingi buku!"

Saya menjangkakan dana sekitar RM5000 diperlukan untuk Rumah Dar'us Salam.

Alhamdulillah, saya gembira melihat perkembangan terkini rumah berkenaan.

Malah, apabila diajukan tentang perpustakaan, beliau berkata,

Korban Hari Raya II

Utusan Kosmo, 12 Disember 2008

We thought it was a wild boar when we drove past the accident scene on Wednesday night. The Fire and Rescue team were still busy extricating the body and deep inside we knew, whoever life, inside couldn't be saved.

Such an irony. Two men and a cow became the 'Korban Hari Raya' that night.
Drive carefully. Anda mampu mengubahnya!
Al-Fatihah.

Korban Hari Raya

We were in Kok Lanas, Kelantan during AidilAdha to carry out Qurbani Meat Distribution to the poor beneficiaries.Trying to avoid Gua Musang route, the 17 hours drive along the coastal Terengganu was really tiring and indeed, torturing due to massive 'bottleneck' traffic in Paka and Kuala Terengganu.Anyway, all that ceased when we saw the happy faces receiving the aid the day after.

I too, had a wonderful and smelly experience cleaning up the 'perut kitab'.I volunteered for that, anyway.

I shall let the images talk. All these excellent photos were taken by this lady.

It's quite easy to 'tackle' the cow if you know the technique.

Mosaics of images during 'qurban'.

'Lapah' session. You really need sharp knife for this.

Cleaning up 'perut kitab'. 'Kapur' will make the 'kitab' clean and white.

Young chaps 'dissecting' the qurbani meats.

Mix of young and old cutting the meats into smaller portions.

Head of Timbang - flown from Baghdad!Hahaha!

2kg of meats for each beneficiary.

Volunteers packing the meats.

The food pack consisted of rice, sugar, condensed milk and flour plus Raya cookies.

My boss handed over the qurbani meat and the food pack to the beneficiary.

In total 100 beneficiaries received the aid in Kok Lanas.Simultaneously on the same day, 200 beneficiaries received IRM's Qurbani aid in Sik, Kedah.
Thank you very much for your contributions.

Bidal Melayu

Hidup di dunia biar beradat,

Let's live in this world by the rules of old,

Like plates and dishes clashing at the slightest lack of care.-
The continual bickerings of an ill-assorted pair.

A tribute to a great teacher

I received a reply in my earlier posting on Qurbani:

Salam.

Err..hello sir.

Ya may not know me..cuz i've just been reading through your entire posts in ur blowing bubbles blog.Cheers bro, it's a really nice name btw.

And one of ur posts REALLY caught my attention, which actually mentioned my mum's name. LOL. I'm Puan Siti Sarah's daughter. Sounds a little odd aye?

Psstt. Was my mum REALLY REALLY STRICT last time? Haha. "I'm totally touched with that post.HE MEMORIZED MY FULL NAME!", were her exact words. Lol. It's a lovely effort you got over there sir to make the world a better place for all of us. We wish ya all the best in everything that you do in ur life and may Allah bless ya.

Cheers.~Fatin Hazirah aka hazzakaulitz~

I could only replied her with a fitting tribute to this very great teacher, her mom,Cikgu Siti Sarah Daimun.Something that I have been wanting to say after all these years.

Wsalam Fatin,

What a lovely surprise! You read the entire posts in this blog?Ayo!

You are her daughter? Are you the one who is now pursuing medicine in Ireland? If so,she spoke proudly of you, you know.Really really proud! What a small world indeed to meet you,her daughter, in this blogging world.

Alhamdulillah, I managed to track her down few months back after searching for her for so many years.I could imagine how surprised she was to receive my call that day.And we, I believe, talked for hours reminiscing the good old days.

Yes, your mum was very strict during her Maths class but she never beat us,don't worry.Haha! But we all so loved her for that.

The fact that she was from TunkuKurshiah College (TKCian) made us ever determined to heckle her yet she knew so well how to'sidestep' incessant pranks and remarks from us and sometimes rebutted us with her 'sarcastic' remarks (and of course leaving us dumbfounded!). And yet we still loved her!

Pssst...One of the thing we used to make fun behind her back during her class was her big big retro style spectacles!Hahahaha! Syyyyy! Please don't tell this to her.We are still scared of her, you know!Hahaha...

Anyway jokes aside, do you know that when she was about to leave STAR Ipoh for St.Anthony, Teluk Intan, we held a farewell party for her. Came to the part where she gave her farewell speech yet halfway through, she couldn't finished it as tears rolling down her face. And some 30 odd number of boys joined the chorus and cried too!

I don't think I would ever cry for a great teacher since then.

I believe that if it wasn't because of the great educators like her (plus others) who tirelessly giving their best in imparting the knowledge and wisdoms to us, personally, I don't think I will become the person that I am now.

For that, I am forever grateful.

Jom Berqurban!

Check IRM's website for details. You can also register directly HERE.

Would you help?

Consider these facts:

A man, Zakaria,38, who had a massive heart attack and now need an angiogram procedure & stenting in a hospital to open up his blocked heart vessels. He has lost his passport and has been working illegal in this country as a construction worker for the past two years and who got family back home. He is a man with no country.

The cost for angiogram is at least RM600 and stenting is about RM5000.Without the operation he will very likely to die. At this point of time the cardiologist and 2 colleagues ( one of them is my friend who texted me the info for help) who are trying their best to save Zakaria's life are willing to chip in themselves but it's still it is too much for them to bear.

Do not ask me such questions:

Why can't the hospital cover all the cost?
Who is this man?
Is he for real?
Why should we help him?
Why can't UNHCR helps,etc?

I have no answers for that.

Simply, all I know, there is a man is going to die without the operation-without the necessary funds. If you want to donate to cover the operation cost - please email me personally to adabi99@yahoo.com.

After considering all these facts, would you help?

Birokrasi

Birokrasi.

"It was an 'academic' meeting".

Anon's Advice On Dealing With Others

Our superfluities should be given up for the convenience of others,
Our conveniences should give place to the necessities of others,
And even our necessities give way to the extremities of the poor.

Miss Lillian Sees Leprosy For The First Time

I love this poem.

When I nursed in a clinic
near Bombay,
a small girl, shielding
all her leprous sores,
crept inside the door.
I moved away,
But then the doctor called,
“You take this case!”
First I found a mask,
and put it on,
quickly gave the child
a shot and then, not well,
and scrubbed my entire body red and raw.

I faced her treatment every week with dread and loathing
—of the chore, not the child.
As time passed, I was less afraid and managed not to
turn my face away.
Her spirit bloomed as sores began to fade.
She’d raise her anxious
searching eyes to mine
to show she trusted me.
We’d smile and say
a few Marathi words,
and then reach and
hold each other’s hands.
And then love grew between
us, so that, later
when I kissed her lips
I didn’t feel unclean.

Tahniah!

Tahniah Pak Ishak Ismail si pemandu teksi.
Anda sumber inspirasi saya!
Soalan seterusnya - Bila lah pula giliran saya?

Malas

Hehehe...

Datukship: Between A and SRK?

Let us compare between Shah Rukh Khan and the thousands of our soldiers who gave their lives for our nation since World War 2.

What do they get for their "Taat Setia" motto etched deep in their hearts and minds?Nothing. Some may argue, hey, we gave PGB and SP to some of the brave ones. But then, how about the rest?Don't they deserve a proper recognition as well?

After all, PGB and SP only awarded for those who served the nations after the independence. Not everybody can get it. For those who gave their lives even before that, they were simply names engraved on the wall of Pasir Panjang Memorial in Singapore. Not in Malaysia, even.(I can't even go and visit their graves).

Why don't we award "datukship" to all of them.No need for us to go beyond that - 'Tan Sri'ship or even 'Tun'ship. Just a simple Dato'ship will do.Not one to be left behind and to be given regardless of their ranks.I don't think it will cost the state or even federal government much except for the cost of producing medals and printing the official credentials.

For a start, I copied down some of the heroes (that begin with alphabet A) of Royal Malay Regiments who served and killed during World War 2 from Syed Othman Syed Omar's "Rejimen Askar Melayu DiRaja 1933 - 1968".

A
1. Lt.Muda Ahmad Noordin (1 Melayu)
2.Lt. Ariffin Hj Sulaiman ( 2 Melayu)
3.Lt. Abdul Wahid Mat Kidam (2 Melayu)
4.Lt.Abdullah Saad (2 Melayu)
5.Lt.Muda Adnan Saidi (1 Melayu)
6.Koperal Abas Awang (1 Melayu)
7.Sarjan Abdul Rahman (2 Melayu)
8.Prebet Ahmad Ismail (1 Melayu)
9. Prebet Ahmad Hj.Ithnin (1 Melayu)
10.Prebet Abdul Latiff Kidam (1 Melayu)

Don't you think that 10 names starting from alphabet 'A' from the thousands names, is too much to ask for datukship, before we even put SRK on the list?

The dreaded questions during Raya (and how to answer it)

The usual dreaded question from all those Makcik Bedahs during Raya visits:

Usual Question no. 1

Makcik Bedah "Eh,kau bila lagi?"
Your Answer : "Eh,makcik tu yang bila laginya?"
Makcik Bedah: "Bila apa pulak kamu ni?"
Your Answer : "Bila nak 'gol'..makcik"

(Naahh.. I don't think so it will ever come out from my mouth)

Usual Question no. 2

Makcik Bedah : "Ish, bila lah aku nak rasa nasi minyak kau ni?"
Your answer : "Insya Allah, nanti saya buatkan masa tahlil makcik nanti!"

(Naaah...again don't you ever....)

Usual Question no.3

Makcik Bedah: "Bila kau nak kahwin ni?"
Your answer : " Saya ni gay makcik!"

(Tried this year and it worked! No more questions or even conversations followed after that....)

Lesson learnt: Don't want or like to do it but have to do it (sometimes) and dont' worry, those answers are only reserved for the really annoying ones.

Note: some of the 'expletives' has been edited.Hehe...ramai potential 'ibu mertua' baca blog ini.

Terkini: Projek Perpustakaan Yayasan An-Nur Maisarah Chemor

Priceless!

Sabtu, 30 Ogos 2008: Beli buku di DBP-Ribuan ringgit.

Sabtu,30 Ogos 2008: Beli buku di MPH Great Eastern Mall -Ratusan ringgit.

Seronok beli buku!

Terima kasih PTS!Terima kasih Utusan Publications!

Orphanage Library Project: Yayasan Ain Maisarah, Chemor

Come, let us build another orphanage library!

This time let us do it for Rumah Anak Yatim Yayasan Ain Maisarah, Chemor, Perak.

Let us aim to give them 1000 books by mid-Ramadhan!

Having said that, let me brief you a little bit on the orphanage. 3 weeks ago, Bro Faizal Pot and me visited the orphanage after our oldboys weekend in STAR Ipoh. Thanks to Pak Manap, the Nurul Hidayah Orphanage in Bukit Gantang (we did the library at Nurul Hidayah few months back) who directed us to the home and told us to meet the orphanage manager, Ustaz Yuzrim.

Based on the directions given by Pak Manap and some phone calls to Ustaz Yuzrim, we had no problem to reach the home; located along the main road towards Ipoh right after Pekan Chemor.
Photobucket

The home housed some 40 plus boys ranging from age of 7 up to 17 years old and governed by board of trustees. Ustaz Yuzrim, a young chap (in his 30s) is the secretary of the yayasan cum manager of the home.
Photobucket

Ustaz Yuzrim told us that the old wooden house cum hostel is also known as "Rumah Ilmu" because the children's of the late owner of the house all went to universities and become respected figures in their career. That was long time ago as I was told that the youngest son who is a doctor and already 70 years of age.
Photobucket
What struck me most was the peaceful environment of the home.Come on, boys home supposed to be opposite - "war zones". Not the case of this home though. It is in great order. The lawn is clean. The boys are behaving well. We saw a group of boys studied for UPSR exams quietly in one corner of the surau.
Photobucket
As we talked, I saw bags of laundry lined up in the office and presumably it belongs to the boys and I asked Ustaz Yuzrim what's is the rationale of sending the boys clothings for 'dobi'?

And this is his answer,

" You see, we have calculated the cost of having washing machines together with electricity and water bills for the home and if you compare it to the cost of sending it to the laundry, it is almost the same", he explained.

"Plus, the home looks nice to the visitors with no 'ampaian' around; the boys will have nice clean shirts everyday and of course look nice and handsome and they will have more time to focus on their study"

Man, Bro Faizal and me agreed silently that this young ustaz was talking about something 'deep' here.

And he pointed out to the "mini-zoo" they have in the courtyard. The boys keep a squirrel, chicken and birds and he revealed it to us why.

"You see, by having this animals around we want to instill love for god's creatures in their heart".

"And, the animals will make this place calmer to the boys and visitors alike".

And he brought us to one section of the home where we see a fish pond 'under construction'.
Photobucket
"It is all done by the boys lead by an elder boy who is in Form 4".

"It was all their idea to have fish pond and they did it themselves".

I thought the pond was done by professional, seriously.

As we go along that afternoon over cup of tea and a plate of cempedak goreng, your conversation went back to what we supposed to do; to create a library for the home. Happened to be, they were also looking into having a library for the boys.

And they just bought a stack of books costing some RM400 and Ustaz Yuzrim related to us on their recent courtesy visit to Pak Manap's Nurul Hidayah orphanage (right after we built the library at Nurul Hidayah) and one of the boys asked to borrow Harry Potter's books from Nurul Hidayah's library to read at home. And he told us that they really devoured it when they returned to Chemor!

Photobucket

The story really touched my heart! Imagine how a book can change their life.

So we decided immediately, the next library will be at this very home.

Our target is 1000 books plus a set of encyclopedia. We are going to raise RM13,000 at least by the end of this month.

And I have a good news for this.

For greater transparency, the funds to be raised this time will be channeled through Islamic Relief Malaysia's Orphanage Library Project. So no more funds going through my personal account as per previous library project we have done.

As I mentioned many times before and will mention it again and again, we are going to buy new and good books for the orphans. No secondhand books, please. Despite good intentions, it won't do justice for the orphans. Let us give something 'valuable' as a gifts to the orphans. I am not against utilising secondhand books but for this project, it is going to be like that. (I am still OK if you want to buy good and new books and channeled it to this project, though)

As for the books, out of 1000 books, 90% would be in Bahasa Melayu Tinggi and 10% would be in English. That's our pledge to support Bahasa Melayu. (Ah, you must be wondering why I write this entry in English then).

We also hope we can deliver the books by Ramadhan. Perhaps we can set up the library in the afternoon and have breaking fast together with the boys in the evening. For now let us work together to raise RM13,000 for the library at Yayasan Ain Maisarah's home.
